The Hand is the mountain landmark that gives Godshand its name. Its fingers reach toward the sky, and water falls from it into the lake below.

The pilgrim route

Stairs have been carved into the mountain so pilgrims can climb to a temple at the summit. Temples also stand at the mountain’s base. Rival worshippers claim the Hand for different gods, and those competing claims help drive the town’s yearly religious festival.

The notes establish the stair and summit temple, but do not identify the temple’s custodians, its dedication, or the rules for access.

The changing fingers

The pointer finger grows unnaturally longer over time. During predictable eclipses, the sun seems to sit in the Hand and the pointer digit breaks off before beginning to grow again. Changes in the town are reported around these events.

The rumors surrounding the Hand distinguish observations from speculation. Its resemblance to a divine body part, the origin of the water, and the presence of anti-magic fields do not yet have established explanations.
